WASHINGTON RARE BOOK GROUP announces its February event: Pyramid Atlantic Art Center for Print, Paper & Book Arts (8230 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring MD) on Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at 5:30 p.m.
Founded by artist Helen Frederick in 1981, Pyramid Atlantic is a non-profit center for the art of hand-papermaking, print-making, and the book, providing a wide array of services and programs: it hosts artists and conservators in residence, offers classes, talks, and exhibitions, and publishes print and artist-book editions. Its new facility in Silver Spring features a paper mill, print shop, letterpress studio, and bindery.
Please join us for a tour of the Center and a visit with its Master Bookbinder (and WRBG member) Linda Rollins. Linda has studied bookbinding and restoration in North Carolina, Massachusetts, and Florida since 1993 and operates her bindery, Capella Book Arts, at Pyramid Atlantic.
Afterwards, those who wish are welcome to join us for dinner at Panera, a soup/salad/sandwich restaurant nearby.
In addition, Pyramid Atlantic is offering two gallery talks later in the evening, and any WRBG members who are interested are welcome to stay (or return) for them.
